Sacred Darkness by Levan Berdzenishvili longlisted for the 2020 EBRD Literature Prize

We are delighted to announce that Sacred Darkness by Levan Berdzenishvili, translated by Brian James Baer and Ellen Vayner, has been selected as one of the 10 novels on the EBRD Literature Prize longlist for 2020!

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the EBRD, launched its Literature Prize in order to promote translated literary fiction from its regions of operations, over 30 countries from central and eastern Europe to the Baltic states, Central Asia, the Western Balkans and the southern and eastern Mediterranean. It is also one of the few international literature prizes that recognises both the author and the translator of their winning titles equally. Rosie Goldsmith, Chair of the Judges described this years’ longlisted authors and translators as ‘rewriting the traditional novel as we knew it’.

The finalists will be announced on 30th March, and the winner on 22nd April.
