It’s been quite a year for local authors. Pulitzer prizewinning author Geraldine Brooks released her highly anticipated historical novel chronicling the life of King David. West Tisbury library’s Jennifer Tseng made national headlines with her first novel about a small-town librarian who engages in an affair with a 17-year-old patron. Chef and farmer Chris Fischer published his first cookbook of raveworthy recipes, complemented by heartwarming stories of growing up on the Island. Local publishing house Vineyard Stories released its final three books: a group of essays by Pulitzer prizewinner William A. Caldwell, a diary of monthly reflections by the Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation’s Adam Moore, and an endearing sketchbook of watercolor scenes and commentaries collected by Gail Rodney.

This holiday season, take your pick from these recent titles by local authors and satisfy the bookworm, foodie, historian, sports enthusiast, poet, or whoever else is on your gift list. Check Bunch of Grapes in Vineyard Haven and Book Den East in Oak Bluffs for local availability.
